Russia’s techno scene is booming in its bigger cities. Hundreds, even thousands of people dance in packed out parties every weekend in Saint Petersburg and Moscow, and new places are opening up against the sometimes tricky climate.

For the past 10 years, the Roots United collective have been on the forefront of Saint Petersburg’s dance scene, honing in local talent and inviting reputable international acts to play at their parties and at one of Russia’s best dance music celebrations, Present Perfect Festival.

Saturday’s guests are a key part of the Roots United roster: Finnish born Mesak has been making electronic music for longer than the lease on your dad’s car, while Eostra and Shutta have been integral in shaping up the scene across the border.
